It sinks in minutes and hits the bottom hard enough to register as a magnitude 3 earthquake. The finite element model had been too coarse where the cell walls met, so it read the shear there 47 percent lower than the real thing. Nobody was hurt. Find the first row of the mesh where the load climbs instead of easing off.
