today's brief

June 2, 1994. A Chinook lifts off from Northern Ireland carrying 25 intelligence and security staff and flies into a hillside on the Mull of Kintyre in fog. Everyone aboard dies. The engine control software had already been called unverifiable by the Ministry's own test contractor, who stopped part way through the review after finding hundreds of anomalies. The two pilots were found grossly negligent, and it took until 2011 to clear their names. Read the fault word the way the controller should have.

mask has a bit set for every fault the controller watches. Every other fault is ignored.
