May 12, 2017. WannaCry runs through the NHS and 150 countries in a morning, asking 300 dollars a machine and promising to raise the price after three days. Marcus Hutchins registers a nonsense domain he spotted in the sample, and the spread stops that afternoon. It cost him about 10 dollars. Price the note the way it priced itself.
