June 2, 1994. Chinook ZD576 flies into the Mull of Kintyre in fog and all 29 people on board are killed, among them most of Northern Ireland's senior intelligence staff. The RAF blamed the pilots. The engine control software had already been through a review that logged hundreds of anomalies and called the code unverifiable, and test rigs had seen an engine run up with no command behind it. The negligence verdict was set aside in 2011. Watch the torque the way that controller should have.
